Tell the truth
Don't oversell and don't undersell. Imagine being invited to a party full of strangers and you have the opportunity to spend the rest of your life with one person from that party. You would want to know as much about that one person as possible before you make that choice. But there's a catch … you must trust each other and assume that each is telling the truth. What would you think if after you married, you found that your marriage was based on lies? Is that really what you want?
If you want the best results from your matrimonial search, always tell the truth. It makes no sense to post false or misleading information about yourself as in the end, it will only waste your time and others (and maybe miss that special someone out there).
Organize your thoughts before posting
Think about your profile before submitting it online. Brainstorm the 5-10 most important things about yourself and deliver them in a format that's in line with your profile. If you're funny, show that in your profile. Remember, this is your introduction to many potential mates. How would you introduce yourself to someone new? Would you bullet point with no emotion or feeling? Probably not. So, don't do it here. Let your personality shine through.
Organize your thoughts, compose a profile that reflects your personality, and then read through it to see if you were a member of the opposite sex, would you be interested in yourself? If not, rework your profile (and remember #1 - always tell the truth).
After posting, refine it.
Don't worry about getting it perfect right from the start. You can always update and improve your profile. Don't overthink or exaggerate your profile. Talk about all areas of your life (i.e. profession, family, hobbies, passions, etc). And if you forget something, add it later.
Also, if you find that you're receiving responses from people you're not interested in, maybe it's time to rework your profile to highlight personality traits or issues that are more (or less) important to you. Tweak it as best you can.
Post a photo of you that shows you and your personality
Your potential partner wants to see you (and of course, you want to see them). So don't share a photo featuring you with your ex-boyfriend, your best friends, or your family. Just keep it simple.
